Marin Voice:
It is time for trail access for all
THE TRAIL ACCESS DEBATE wears on in this paper, with the arguments never changing. What is different this time is that the Marin Board of Supervisors has stepped up as directors of our open space, and are seeking new solutions to address user conflict on our open space trails.
A4B Endorsements for Marin County Supervisor
District 4
A4B endorses Steve Kinsey for District 4 Supervisor. Steve has always been a champion for trails and a strong supporter of creating more access for bikes. He was instrumental in pushing the 680 Trail project through, when it was faced with fierce opposition. He was also the main driver of the Whites Hill/Porcupine Trails, one of the first shared use trails on Marin County Open Space lands. Steve, along with fellow board member Judy Arnold, has offered a $50,000 Challenge grant for the Stafford Lake Bike Park, again showing his dedication to our sport. During Steve's sixteen years as a County Supervisor, Marin has
received national recognition for pioneering efforts including Safe Routes to School, a renewable energy program, expanded biking and walking paths, fishery restoration, and permanently protecting over 30,000 acres of agricultural land. Steve has worked with A4B since our beginning and his big vision and understanding of the trails issues in this county continue to impress us.
District 2
A4B endorses Katie Rice for District 2 Supervisor. Katie served as Supervisor Hal Brown’s aide for eight years, and was named by Gov. Jerry Brown to complete Hal's term upon his death. In much the style of Hal Brown, we believe Katie will work with all the various stakeholders on the issues and concerns that matter to them. She has established excellent relationships with community leaders and elected
officials at both the local and county level. A4B sat down with Katie and found her to be a straight forward, committed and intelligent candidate. She understands that the current situation of trail access for bikes is not working and needs to change. She will look to us to help with solutions. Note: Her opponent, David Weinsoff, failed to respond to the A4B questionnaire.
