Our mission is specific to singletrack - and we have the calluses to prove it.

One of our most popular trail networks, Tamarancho, was built by volunteers in the mid 90’s and each winter relies on volunteers to do the work needed to keep it safe and sustainable. With your help, we’ll replace rotten trail supports, brush the sight lines, install winter drainage, and generally keep the dirt where it belongs!

All trail workdays begin at 9:00 am sharp and end at 12:30 pm. We meet in the middle of camp at the Ranger Office. This year due to the road closure on Iron Springs, you MUST ride ride your bike up to camp. Look for the yellow ‘Trail Work’ sign!

We will supply all the tools and supervision. Please bring gloves, sturdy shoes, water, and a snack. A bike is often helpful to access the more distant work sites.

All upcoming trail work days will be posted to the calendar:

Be the change - Join Us

As of 2022, we have over 3,000 members and Access4Bikes is fully volunteer-powered. We have established a consistent, positive voice with Marin's elected officials and land managers, but there is much more work to do and the pace is still slow. With more members sharing the load, A4B will be better positioned to speed the opening of new singletrack trails in Marin, rehabilitate existing trails and help elect local officials that believe in fair and reasonable access to our public trails.

What does it take to join?

For now, just passion. Well, passion, and also your name, email, zip code.  Membership in A4B has been free since its inception, but we are considering a change. Advocacy takes time and A4B is run by volunteers who, like everyone else, juggle work, family, riding and much more. It’s not easy finding the time to get the needed work done with our land managers and elected officials, as well as good old trailwork.

A fee-based membership would help raise funds for a paid employee who would be dedicated to achieving our goal of more bike-legal singletrack in Marin.

While this is all tentative, we are working on paid membership perks like special discounts at our annual fundraiser Ales and Trails, Camp Tamarancho passes, bike shop discounts, priority access to A4B sponsored events and more.

In the meantime, if you simply want to be notified of upcoming land manager meetings, elections, trail work events, group rides, trail openings and closings, that's great and filling out the form below puts you on our email list for those notifications. The email list will remain free and there’s no obligation to join in the future.

If you want to get more involved, even better. We are always looking for engaged, positive mountain bikers to help with general advocacy and specific projects.
