Marinduro 2024 Recap

On Saturday, March 30th, after 36 hours of heavy rain over the Marin Coastal Range, 324 shredders came out to test their grit at Marinduro: A rad 6-stage endurance MTB race in Marin County, CA.

Being the second year of this A4B produced enduro race, it was set to ‘go big’ from Day 1; the weather wasn’t going to stop this juggernaut. “We had SO much fun in our first year of Marinduro. We did a lot and we learned a lot. We knew we could do more, and, boy, did we” said A4B Executive Director, Vernon Huffman.

Hand-tie-dyed Ts for the racers? You bet. Neon yellow volunteer vests? Absolutely. Stellar aid stations? Totally. Rad photography? Of course. Beautiful, hand-made winner metals and designer hats? D’uh. Plus, double the course signage, 9 prize contributors, 16 sponsors, 19 vendors, and over 80 volunteers who brought the stoke from packet pick-up to the last minute of the after-party.

“It’s mind-blowing that volunteers make this all possible,” explained A4B Board President and this year’s volunteer coordinator, Joanna Jones. “A4B is a volunteer-run organization but when you get people who love riding helping and cheering on other people racing, there’s a special kind of magic in that.” >> RELIVE THE MAGIC with this sick Drone POV!

Best of all, the feedback we’ve heard has been nothing short of glowing. “It’s been wildly positive from volunteers, supporters, and most of all, racers,” said Win Gilliland, A4B Board Member. “And having raced both years, I can confirm: it was wetter, wilder, and radder than ever!” >> WHAT DID YOU THINK? A4B is hugely grateful for everyone who made this race possible, including those who slogged it out in the rain during course set-up, and those who brought us this year’s best pucker-moments on Stage 6. Raced only by Pro and Expert racers, Stage 6 was a new addition; a gnarly challenge trail beloved by locals that was at the heart of many pre-race jitters.

After all that mud, it’s a good thing we know some expert trail builders who can help put things to rights. *wink* >> SIGN UP NOW TO HELP OUT Saturday, April 6th for a special post-race Trail Work Day!

Speaking of gnar, special thank goes out to our rescue crew, Event Medical Services, for supporting the (thankfully) few injuries racers experienced on-course. Also, huge thank you to The Boy Scouts, e8Timing, and the photographers who came out Saturday to volunteer their time: Tim Hurley, Jorge from JustPedal, Adrian Randal, Andrew Waite and Bennett Bakke.
