Our mission is specific to singletrack - and we have the calluses to prove it.

Trail Work

We conduct trail maintenance on many trails around Marin, often with the help of other groups, agencies, and organizations. One of our most popular trail networks, Camp Tamarancho, was built by volunteers in the mid 90’s and each winter relies on volunteers to do the large amount of work needed to keep it safe and sustainable. We replace rotten trail supports, brush the sight lines, install winter drainage, and generally keep the dirt where it belongs! The good news is, anyone can help and we invite people age 13+ to join us.

First things first, all trail workdays begin at 9:00 am sharp and end at 12:30 pm. For Camp Tamarancho, we meet in the middle of camp at the Ranger Office. Since 2023, due to the road closure on Iron Springs, all trail work volunteers MUST ride ride a bike up to camp. Look for the yellow ‘Trail Work’ sign! For other locations, the meet-up details will be listed in the calendar event for that specific day.

We supply tools, supervision, and often lunch! You just need to bring:
- Gloves
- Sturdy shoes
- Water
- Snacks
- *A bike (with your helmet) is often helpful to access the more distant work sites. We’ll be sure to include that detail in the calendar event.

All upcoming trail work days are posted to the calendar.

Be the Change

As of 2024, we have over 3,600 community members and Access4Bikes remains an almost entirely volunteer-powered organization. We have established a consistent, positive voice with Marin's elected officials, land managers and landowners, but there is always much more work to do. With more members, volunteers, and a few key paid support staff sharing the load, A4B is better positioned than ever to speed the opening of new singletrack trails in Marin, rehabilitate existing trails, and help elect local officials that believe in fair and reasonable access to our public trails.

What does it take to join the A4B Community?

Passion. Well, passion, and your name and email to get on our email list so you know all about our monthly events and activities. Also, in 2023, we added a tiered Membership Program to our organization to build sustainable, year-over-year funding for our trail and advocacy work, and to give back to our community with rad perks. Every donation to A4B helps get us closer to more and better, bike-legal singletrack in Marin by helping to fund the necessary work behind the scenes.

Like we said, Membership certainly has its perks: Special shop and event ticket discounts; early registration to our epic self-produced enduro race, Marinduro; annual passes for local favorites China Camp and Camp Tamarancho; sweet A4B swag; and more.

Most importantly, our (always free) mailing list is there for everyone and will ensure that you will be notified of upcoming important land manager meetings, elections, trail work events, group rides, trail openings and closings, and everything in between.

If you want to get more involved, even better! Advocacy and community engagement take time and all of us are juggling work, family, riding, and much more to make mountain biking in Marin the best it can be. We are always looking for engaged, positive mountain bikers to help with advocacy, events, and specific projects. If you’re wondering what you might do at A4B, contact us via email, info@access4bikes.com and let’s chat!

Ride on and thanks so much for your support!
