Women’s Clinics are Popular as Ever!
China Camp State Park | On Saturday, November 2nd, 35 women gathered to work on mountain bike skills with Brian Astell of TrailWorks. Participants ranged from absolute beginners to experienced riders and our youngest participant was nine years old. The focus of the day was building foundational skills to leverage for beginning through advancing mountain biking.
We worked on skills and drills in the Miwok Meadows parking lot, starting with stable body position and adding front and back wheel lifts to avoid obstacles, then cornering.
By late afternoon, about 10 participants remained to hit the trails, session switchbacks, and see Brian in action.
I was really energized by the day to see how much improvement stems from the stable body position.
My takeaways: Keep my weight in my feet, lighten up on the handlebars, arch my back to keep the posture upright, and point the elbows up. I’m excited to practice the skills and drills and session switchbacks with all I learned.
Thanks A4B!
